“Clave” debit card System Security
Some security advice:
  • Do not place your card close to magnets or magnetic fields as the same erase the information recorded in the magnetic band
  • Do not expose your card to high temperatures (hot or cold)
  • Never bend your card
  • Examine your name at the time of receiving your "Clave" debit card so as to verify that it is correctly written
  • Do not write your Personal Identification Number (PIN) or secret code in the card’s paper band; this band is to contain only your signature, which is very important for verification purposes and, at the same time, facilitates its tracing in the event of losing it.
  • In the event your "Clave" debit card does not adequately function or for any reason has been lost, you must immediately contact the issuing bank so as to enable its evaluation and, if necessary, its replacement with a new one.

Advises to follow for the protection of your Secret Code or PIN:

  • Do not write your secret number anywhere. The secret number must be memorized, for your own good, and if for some reason you have forgotten it, contact your bank immediately.
  • Never give your secret number to another person and do not lend your card to anybody. The "Clave" debit card is for your exclusive personal use.
  • If the automatic teller is out of service, do not insert your secret number, as it will not function.
  • Always ensure that you withdrew or were given back your card after each and every business transaction whether in an automatic teller or in a commercial establishment.
